Meet Public Enemy #1

US Men’s National Team fans, meet your new Public Enemy #1…Nigel De Jong.

This isn’t quality Chuck D Public Enemy status either. This is dirty leg-breaker status after De Jong’s horrible challenge against Stuart Holden that left the midfielder with a broken leg and facing 4-6 weeks out. The injury takes him out of a Bolton side that is in desperate need of his creative ability and threatens to cost Stu a place at the World Cup. It was an ugly challenge, it many ways a worse challenge than what happened last weekend when Ryan Shawcross severely broke Aaron Ramsey’s leg. De Jong just went in like a crazed bull and bulldozed Holden’s leg. Despite all that, it’s not really the tackle that is upsetting me, it’s De Jong’s attitude. If he would just admit that it was a lousy tackle and that he made a mistake, we could move on. Instead he’s displaying a defying arrogance, trying to defend his actions rather than just owning up to his bad judgment. .

Look Nigel…can I call you Nigel? You made a mistake, it happens. Stop being a prick and own up to your mistake. Show a little remorse about injuring another player and possibly preventing him from participating in the World Cup. Nobody likes a cold-hearted asshole, but people have the power to forgive those who are repentant about their actions. In your case you are nothing more than an unrepentant, cold-hearted asshole…and such you won’t be getting an forgiveness from me or US National Team fans in general. Just remember one thing, karma is a bitch Nigel…you’ll get yours.
