RHST: Redrum! Redrum!

Red Head Step Thoughts on a Thursday…”Nice!”

Why does Nike and/or US Soccer hate red shirts? Last I checked the United States flag has three colors, yet the jersey manufacture continues to produce national team shirts utilizing only two of the three colors. In fact, were an alien to land here and attempt to learn about the US from our new national team shirts, he would no doubt deduce that America is the country of Blue, White and Gray. I happen to like the idea of the US having a red based national team jersey…call me crazy but I’m getting tired of the white/gray home shirts and blue away shirts. At least the last round looked good. This new lot of shirts for South Africa looks like a t-shirt with a beauty pageant sash across the front. Just bad. Needless to say I won’t get getting one…though my friend Gina will no doubt accuse me of never having the intention of getting one in the first place, no matter what they looked like. Completely false!

Congratulations to Landon Donovan on winning Everton’s Player of the Month award for January. Trouble is, he doesn’t deserve it. I’m not trashing Donovan, quite the contrary. He’s been great since joining Everton on loan and he’s on track to be the player of the month in February. January was the Month of Fellaini…it’s a fact people. Fellaini was dominant during the first month of the first new year and his injury will hurt Everton down the home strech of the season. That said, who cares…it’s just an award. Good for Donovan, feel free to hang around past March…please.

Of course MF was the best player for EFC this month but the fans voted for Donovan. Hard to argue with that. Totally agree with the "hang around past March" part. Nice article.
